  • You should always keep your caravan in tip top condition. Regular servicing and maintenance will pay off in the long run, giving you greater reliability and peace of mind. Be careful however, there are safety and legal issues to bare in mind. Every vehicle or trailer is required by law to be in a condition where it can not, by normal operation, cause danger to anyone. Some items can be checked yourself, lights and tyres for example, but the braking system, gas and electrical systems and habitation area are best left to the experts.

  • Preparing your touring caravan for the winter is a must. Firstly, and most importantly, drain the water system to prevent the sub-zero temperatures from freezing the pipes. Water expands when frozen and can eaisly split pipes (even metal ones), cause pumps to break internally and wreck water storage tanks leaving you with potentially expensive damage.

  • Dehumidifiers are used to remove trace amounts of water in the air. Humid air can cause Mould or Mildew to grow which pose numerous health risks. After using a caravan in damp or wet conditions it is good practice to use a dehumidifier to lower the moisture in the air and prevent condensation and any issues it may cause.

  • When towing great care should be taken and more responsibility accepted, accidents involving trailers or caravans are much worse with greater consequences. You vehicle becomes longer, is heavier, and all your load is anchored to your vehicle at one small towing point. You must remember to regularly check the condition of your caravan and linkages, to make sure that you arrive safely and with everything that you had at the start of your journey.

Many caravanners find the use of a motor mover makes the task of manoeuvring their caravan for hitching up, placing on site and moving around a storage area so much easier.
